Description
On July 30, 1991, Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti gave a free concert in London’s Hyde Park to celebrate 30 years in opera. A crowd of 100,000 – out of an expected 250,000 – stood in the rain to watch Pavarotti perform 20 arias by Verdi, Puccini, Bizet and Wagner.
VIPs in attendance included the Princess of Wales, Prime Minister John Major and Michael Caine, were soaked in the downpour along with everyone else. A beaming Pavarotti responded later in the concert, dedicating Puccini’s romantic aria “Donna Non Vidi Mai,” translated to “I Have Never Seen a Woman Like That,” to the beautifully rain-soaked Diana. That romantic image of Pavarotti addressing a princess has gone down in history as an iconic moment in our popular culture. He allowed everyone to dream a little.
Re-live that moment and all the other amazing moments of this once-in-a-lifetime performance on high quality video LaserDisc. Item is in its original shrink wrap, has never been played and in like new condition.
